I work with a range of arts organisations, organisations, and festivals to develop storytelling, performance and writing commissions and produce arts projects with community groups. Below are some past collaborations. If you're interested in working with me, please get in touch to discuss your project.
The Girl Who Wouldn't Give Up / Y Ferch Na Fyddai'n Ildio Byth
Commissioned by Green Squirrel, I developed a new story based on the legend of the Afanc, written in Welsh and English, a bilingual 20-minute performance piece, and a film script for a short trailer for the project. Between November 2019 and February 2020, the story was performed for a range of audiences both at Wales Millennium Centre and online, providing the stimulus for a Cardiff-wide arts project based on themes of community resilience and climate breakdown.
Land of the Dragon / Gwlad y Ddraig
Arthur the Bear King / Yr Arth Frenin
[all for PuppetSoup]
Between 2015 and 2019, I was a regular collaborator with Abergavenny-based puppetry company, PuppetSoup, for whom I performed as a puppeteer and storyteller, including at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and helped to devise and create new shows for national touring. This work included developing bilingual scripts, staging, helping to create and maintain puppets, and collaborating with a diverse team to develop new work for performance with limited time and budgets. With PuppetSoup, I toured extensively around Wales to rural venues and to other venues across the UK.
[Head4Arts / Celf ar y Blaen & Betwyll]
Working closely with a number of organisations, schools, and individual artists, I managed the delivery of a year-long project in three Welsh-language schools. The project explored the impact of a reading app, Betwyll, on the reading habits of children in Year 5. Collaborating with a writer, translator, poet, and illustrator, I developed a series of creative workshops to be delivered in the schools to inform and inspire the use of the app in the classroom.
Macbeth & A Midsummer Night's Dream
[UX Education, Xi'an, China]
In collaboration with Darius Nash, I worked closely with an international school and UX Education / Camp Your Life to develop a month-long programme of theatre-making, storytelling, and Shakespeare workshops in Xi'an, working with children and young people aged 7-18. Both programme cohorts culminated in performances - A Midsummer Night's Dream & Macbeth - directed by Darius & I. I am currently collaborating with the company a second time to deliver online storytelling workshops exploring Chinese and European fairytales with children.
