BookTrust Cymru, Big Welsh Rhyme Time 2024

For BookTrust Cymru, I created a new poem for early years children that developed vocabulary and a love of poetry and stories. Mr Vinegar is a storytelling poem that adds more and more Welsh as it goes on, aiming to make Welsh fun and accessible to all listeners. You can find the poem here.

Cardiff Council Story Trails

2021-22

In collaboration with Child-Friendly Cardiff, I developed eight storytelling trails, recorded in Welsh and English, at various parks around the city of Cardiff. The stories were inspired by the landscape, folklore, and histories of each unique location, and developed specifically to encourage playfulness, fun, and authentic engagement with the story and the park trails, alongside discovering secret places in well-known Cardiff landmarks. More details can be found here.

Pathways / Llwybrau

2020-21

Funded by Arts Council Wales, Pathways / Llwybrau developed a series of podcast recordings to be listened to while walking specific trails around the city of Cardiff. Later iterations of the project brought together storytellers and trails from around Wales. Full recordings can be found here.

The Library of Life / Llyfrgell Bywyd

[Head4Arts & PETRA Publishing]

2020

At the rainbow’s end, one tiny girl takes care of a very unusual Library. It is her job to watch over the books that keep the world in balance. This is the story of what happens when she notices that the library seems to be changing – books are disappearing and sections are shrinking ….all apart from one. Something terrible is happening to the library, disrupting the balance and she needs to find help….

First developed as a storytelling performance for Earth Hour 2020, The Library of Life is available in Welsh or English, illustrated by Andy O'Rourke, for PETRA Publishing.

The Girl Who Wouldn't Give Up / Y Ferch Na Fyddai'n Ildio Byth

[Green Squirrel]

2019-20

Commissioned by Green Squirrel, I developed a new story based on the legend of the Afanc, written in Welsh and English, a bilingual 20-minute performance piece, and a film script for a short trailer for the project. Between November 2019 and February 2020, the story was performed for a range of audiences both at Wales Millennium Centre and online, providing the stimulus for a Cardiff-wide arts project based on themes of community resilience and climate breakdown.
